Composite White Fillings
Fillings are usually required for restoring the shape, form and function of a tooth either due to significant decay, fracture/chip of a tooth structure or old filling and replacement of old defective amalgam fillings etc. After preparing the tooth which involves removing the decayed portion of the tooth/old fractured filling, the dentist fills the cavity with a resin material that is used to restore the shape and integrity of the tooth. Fillings are sometimes not the first choice of treatment for very large cracked/broken teeth that have been excessively worn down due to teeth grinding or badly broken due to an accident or broken filling on a tooth which has root canal treatment, are better indicative for Crowns. Composite white fillings are the most widely used these days because of their excellent appearance, and their ability to bond to the tooth structure unlike old metallic fillings.. They are more aesthetic and look like natural teeth. We usually do composite (white) fillings for front as well as back teeth. We also replace old amalgam fillings, in which the most common issues are cracking, chipping & decaying margins of the old fillings. Old amalgams can also cause cracking of surrounding tooth structure, and in such cases crowns are needed. Such amalgam fillings can be replaced by white/tooth colored composite fillings. In certain clinical situations upon patient's request, we do provide amalgam fillings, where a small part of existing big amalgam filling has chipped off and needs to be fixed. Our trained and highly experienced clinicians use latest techniques and advanced filling materials to provide you durable and aesthetic composite fillings. |
